You are here: Home » RSS Cases - From Technology to Praxis » feed editors + creators » Feedostyle - Insert Feeds Into Your Web Pages March 20, 2006 Feedostyle - Insert Feeds Into Your Web Pages Gianni from Feedostyle contacted me to let me know about their (still in beta) web-based tool that let's you stylize a web feed (RSS, Atom) and insert a feed box into your web pages. You got through a short process When I tried it on some of my weblogs and journals this morning, I received a "Your feed is evil" type of message. Pretty funny, since Feedburner and other readers don't have a problem with them. However, I let Gianni know, and in barely an hour or two, they fixed the problem (from their end, at least). It seems that of the 4 or so feeds I tested (RSS, Atom), they were generating non-standard XML feed code. The RSS feeds from my WordPress weblogs had been tweaked by a podcasting plugin (Podpress). The Atom feed from my Blogger.com blog (hosted on my own domain) was generating Atom 0.3 format, which Feedostyle didn't support. Whatever Feedostyle did, it solved the problem and I was able to created a styled feed box. However, when I tried some of the feed box styles, I found that the static box doesn't function properly. The feed item list overflows the boundaries of the box. Now I understand that they're still in beta, so they've got glitches to work out. But I'm really hoping that since they are aiming their tool at people without a lot of programming skills, that they'll add a few more style options to their "Create Your Feedo Style" page. However, for those of you with some CSS (Cascading Stylesheets) experience, you can customize with your own styles. Here's an example feed box for the RSS Case Studies Journal, using the default style and a scrolling vertical marquee:
