You are here: Home » RSS Cases - From Technology to Praxis » RSS General » RSS vs Atom: The Web Feed Formats Debate Continues November 4, 2005 RSS vs Atom: The Web Feed Formats Debate Continues Rok and I had an email discussion recently regarding the RSS vs Atom debate. I maintain that RSS is a better, more robust format. Rok says that from a marketing point of view, "no one cares whether its Atom or RSS, and most offer both". Do you agree? What I'm interested in is comments from both marketers and developers. Do you care which format you use? Do you have a preference, or do you support both formats? If you are not yet using web feeds for content syndication, do you plan to, and which format do you plan to offer, if not both? Your comments are much appreciated. One of the blog post threads that I'm working on is a detailed comparison of the features in RSS and Atom. This will be from a web feeds marketing point of view. I will also be doing a "development" thread comparing the actual code of the formats, including discussions of converting between formats. Your comments will help me target these future posts for your benefit. (c) Copyright: 2005-present, Raj Kumar Dash, http://www.chameleonintegration.com Comments
