I might be missing something, but this has to be one of the silliest uses of RSS that I've seen so far. I can't imagine watching an FTP server to see if any new file has come in. At least, that's what I thought. But then again, it's been a very long time since I regularly used or managed a public FTP server. I'm not sure how popular these things are anymore, but in government and university sectors, they are still used. Many such servers allow the public, or select members of the public, to upload files. So having a handy way to track and view additions to an FTP server is in fact a great use of RSS. Unfortunately, the article is written for PHP programmers. So those of you without that skill (or who aren't programmers) may feel a bit intimidated by the fairly long article. >> 2006, Raj Kumar Dash, http://www.chameleonintegration.com/ Technorati Tags: rsscases, rss cases, uses for rss, tracking events Comments
